Bird Log III. - January 2025

Hello friends,

It’s cold out there. Our seaside home is in the grips of winter, and while our little corner of the world seems ensconced in an austere, hushed beauty, the cold can be deadly for some of our neighbors. If you live in our home state of New Hampshire, this link will provide you with a list of cold weather shelters:

If your are in our hometown of Portsmouth, the public library is offering free winter clothes like jackets, scarves, and gloves on the first floor. Even if you’re safe and warm, let your neighbors know about these resources!

Anyways - here’s what’s going on with the band this month:

  • We’re playing a show in Worcester, MA at The Firehouse on Saturday, January 25th. We’ll be playing with Soup Dreams, Mary Elizabeth Remington, and Berm. This will be our last public appearance until March, so if you’re in the Worcester area, come hang out with us.

  • Our principal songwriter Geoff put out a solo collection, called Songs of Doubt & Despair. It’s a collection of classic folk songs from the 19th and early 20th centuries. It can be heard on Bandcamp and Youtube.

  • We did an interview with Aldora Britain Records, which is being featured in issue 248 of their e-zine. We’re thrilled to get to share some of our influences, as well as some details of our artistic process. The piece can be read here - and we encourage you to make a small donation to their project.

That’s all for now. The weather is cold, the news is bleak, and the world is getting pretty unforgiving - it’s hard to think of much else to say right now. Keep an eye on the sky - all eight planets will be in alignment tonight.

Love,

Bird Friend
